THEMES AND PROMISES Week#1 (23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time) Theme: We are true followers of Christ when we surrender our plans, attachments, and priorities to Him. Promise: “…the gracious care of the Lord…prosper the work of our hands.” (Ps 90:17) Week#2 (Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross) Theme: We are true followers of Christ when we believe in the saving love of His cross. Promise: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” (Jn 3:16) Week#3 (25th Sunday in Ordinary Time) Theme: We are true followers of Christ when we are prudent and faithful stewards of God’s gifts. Promise: “The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones.” (Lk 16:10a) Week#4 (26th Sunday in Ordinary Time) Theme: We are true followers of Christ when we care for the poor and embrace God’s call to mercy. Promise: “When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear with him in glory.” (Col 3:4) Week 2 (19th Sunday in Ordinary Time) Theme: We store up heavenly treasures when we are always vigilant and faithful stewards of Christ. Promise: “Do not be afraid any longer…for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.” (Lk 12:32) Week 3 (20th Sunday in Ordinary Time) Theme: We store up heavenly treasures when we have courage to avoid sin and embrace the righteousness of Christ Promise: “The Lord heard my cry…he made firm my steps.” (Ps 40:3a, 3c) Week 4 (21st Sunday in Ordinary Time) Theme: We store up heavenly treasures when we accept our trials as the Lord’s loving discipline. Promise: “…all discipline…brings the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who are trained by it.” (Heb 12:11) Week 5 (22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time) Theme: We store up heavenly treasures when we remain humble in our ways and are mindful of the last, the least and the lost. DIRECTIONS: Invite new members by sharing the Good News; reach out to inactive members.Serve in the mission outreaches with love and compassion.Be persistent in your daily prayers and be closely in love with Jesus.Encourage young community members to influence family and friends to know and serve Jesus. Promise: “…your heart shall rejoice…the Lord’s power shall be known to his servants.” (Is 66:14) Week 2 (15th Sunday in Ordinary Time) Theme: We are proclaimers and witnesses of God’s Kingdom when we show compassion and kindness to the helpless. Promise: “The Lord hears the poor, and his own who are in bonds, he spurns not.” (Ps. 69:34) Week 3 (16th Sunday in Ordinary Time) Theme: We are proclaimers and witnesses of God’s Kingdom when we listen to Jesus and act on His teachings. Promise: “It is Christ in you, the hope for glory.” (Col 1:27b) Week 4 (17th Sunday in Ordinary Time) Theme: We are proclaimers and witnesses of God’s Kingdom when we persevere in prayer and receive the gifts of the Spirit. Promise: “For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” (Lk 11:10)
